How to Use Image to Image: 4 Fields Explained

Image to Image uses the same core structure as Text to Image with one addition: a required reference image upload. There are no style presets, no advanced sliders — just your photo, your words, and your output settings.

Describe what you want the output to look like — not what the input looks like. Focus on the transformation: the new style, changed lighting, different atmosphere, or altered materials.

Sets the dimensions of the output image. The Auto option automatically matches the proportions of your uploaded reference image — useful when you want the output to have the same framing as the input.

What "Auto" Aspect Ratio Does in Image to Image

The Auto option exists specifically for Image to Image and behaves differently from fixed ratios. Understanding how it works helps you choose the right setting for each transformation.

Auto — match_input_image

Output matches the reference photo's proportions

When you select Auto, Peanut AI passes match_input_image to the API. The output image is generated at the same aspect ratio as the photo you uploaded — preserving its original framing without any cropping or letterboxing.

Use Auto when: you want the transformed output to have the same proportions as your source photo, and you don't need a specific platform format.

Fixed Ratio — 16:9 / 9:16 / 4:3 / 3:4

Output is generated at your chosen dimensions

Selecting a fixed aspect ratio overrides the input photo's proportions. The output is generated at the ratio you specify — useful when the result needs to fit a specific platform format (e.g. 16:9 for LinkedIn, 9:16 for Stories).

Use a fixed ratio when: you need the output for a specific platform or placement, or when you want 2K or 4K resolution output.

Validation Rules — What to Know Before You Generate

Four rules govern Image to Image generation. Each exists to ensure you get accurate results and are never charged unexpectedly.

Sign In Required to Upload and Generate

You must be signed in to upload a reference image, write a prompt, or submit a generation. Without an account, the upload area and prompt field are locked. Sign up takes under 60 seconds and free credits are added automatically — no credit card required.

Prompt Cannot Be Empty

The prompt field is required. A reference image alone is not sufficient — you must describe the transformation. Attempting to generate without a prompt will surface a validation error and block submission.

Resolution Restriction for Auto and 1:1 Ratios

When Aspect Ratio is set to Auto or 1:1, only 1K resolution is available. The 2K and 4K options are disabled and a notice is displayed. To use 2K or 4K, select a fixed aspect ratio: 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, or 3:4.

Insufficient Credits — Redirects to Pricing

If your account does not have enough credits for the selected generation, you are redirected to Pricing Page to purchase a credit pack. Credits are only deducted on successful completion — a failed generation never costs credits.

Both modes produce commercially licensed PNG outputs at the same resolutions and credit costs. The choice depends on whether you're creating from scratch or transforming something that already exists. Starting from zero? Text to image is the right tool.

What image formats can I upload as a reference?

Peanut AI accepts all standard image formats — including JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP. Just pick any photo from your device. Only one reference image can be uploaded per generation.

Aspect Ratio

What does the "Auto" aspect ratio do?

Auto means the output matches your photo's proportions exactly. It passes match_input_image to the API. One catch: Auto locks you to 1K resolution. To use 2K or 4K, select a fixed ratio (16:9, 9:16, 4:3, or 3:4).

Why are 2K and 4K disabled when I select Auto or 1:1?

When Aspect Ratio is set to Auto or 1:1, only 1K resolution is available and a notice is shown in the interface. To unlock 2K or 4K, switch your aspect ratio to 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, or 3:4.

Privacy

Will my uploaded photos be used to train Peanut AI?

No. Peanut AI does not use your uploaded reference images or prompts to train any AI model. Your photos and creative concepts remain completely private — this applies to all accounts on all plans.

Credits

What happens if my Image to Image generation fails?

If a generation fails for any reason, the credits used are automatically returned to your account. You are never charged for a failed attempt. If your account has insufficient credits, you will be redirected to the Pricing Page to purchase a credit pack.

Commercial Use

Can I use Image to Image outputs commercially?

Yes. All Peanut AI outputs carry full commercial rights — client deliverables, advertising, merchandise, publications, and social media. This is included on all plans with no additional fees or attribution requirements.
